How Media Lessons from COVID-19 Can Boost Your Business

Do you want to generate more leads and sales? If so, keep reading because there are media lessons to be realized from COVID-19.

Of course, you do!

Who doesn’t?

When I first heard about the Coronavirus and COVID-19, I immediately thought of my father, who served in the U.S. Army. He taught my sister the following lessons:

  • Be proactive.
  • Be reactive in an appropriate, level-headed manner.
  • Keep your eyes and ears open so that you know what’s going on around you.
  • Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you.
  • If a disaster strikes, find the “leader” within the group and stick to them like glue.
  • Become a leader so that you can take control of a situation and help people to safety.
  • Remain focused on what you’re doing, but don’t ignore signals and trends.
  • Stay cool, calm, and collected.

When you react to situations, you often make mistakes.

Take the COVID-19 outbreak.

Some people waited until the last minute to stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, rubbing alcohol, and other essentials.

If they would have done this all along (buy one package of toilet paper and one package of paper towels each shopping trip), they may not be freaking out as much.

It’s the same with generating leads and sales for your business.

If you wait until your bank account is almost empty, you’ll panic and make mistakes.

If you wait until your business’ bank account is almost empty, you’ll panic and make mistakes.

So what can you do?

You can keep your eyes and ears open and learn lessons from the media.

For example, it’s been non-stop news about COVID-19.

Why do you think that is?

Because repetition works!

One of the Biggest Media Lessons is That Repetition Works!

The media repeats stories to keep the public mesmerized and to keep everyone informed of what’s going on. But we have to sort through the information to find the truth…

The media also churns out content so that they keep everyone ‘hooked’ on the COVID-19 story. This does a couple of things.

First, it drives people to click on links in articles, at the end of YouTube videos (or in the description), etc.

It’s a great way to drive people to landing pages and product pages.

That’s another lesson!

Keep your content fresh and update old content so that it’s current.

And don’t forget that Google and other search engines value great content, so make sure yours is optimized!

So what are you waiting for?

Start using the media to help you generate leads and sales.

Remember, don’t wait until disaster strikes to do something!!

The power is in your hands, so start being proactive today.
