Create Backlinks with Yahoo! Answers

I receive Google Alerts for freelance writing, screenwriting, and non-fiction writing. An alert came through for Yahoo! Answers. I clicked on the link and lo and behold, someone asked a question about non-fiction writing. Since I completed my non-fiction book, I answered the question because I had a lot of information to share with the person. Yahoo! Answers provides a ‘What’s your source?’ box. Of course, I entered Savvy-Writer.com which created a backlink to my website.

Creating backlinks doesn’t have to take a lot of time. In fact, you can incorporate it into your social media regime. Find forums and blogs that you can contribute to by leaving thoughtful comments. Enter your website’s URL in the space and provided and Voilà, you created backlinks to your website.

The more backlinks you create the more web traffic your website will receive. Be patient because it may not happen overnight. You may want to create a schedule for creating backlinks such as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. Stick to your schedule and over time your web traffic will increase.

Tips for creating backlinks

  • Choose blogs and forums that relate to your product or service or at least complement your product or service.
  • Leave thoughtful responses. Please don’t type “Nice blog post or Excellent post!” because it doesn’t show you took the time to read a post or forum question.
  • If you don’t have to time to create backlinks, hire someone to do it.
  • Create a schedule and stick to it. Backlinks don’t create themselves. You must commit to a day(s) and time; otherwise you’ll miss out on an opportunity to gain web traffic.

If you’d like more web traffic, check out Yahoo! Answers and start contributing to the discussion. Enter your website’s URL in the ‘What’s your source?’ box which will help you gain web traffic. Leave helpful comments and show that you’re an expert in your field. Good luck!

  1. I admit, I am terrible at creating backlinks. It’s almost like some chore I don’t want to do. Over the past few weeks I have tried to set a schedule for two days a week. So far, so good. Now if I can just keep up the routine. I like your idea of Yahoo Answers.

  2. I now create backlinks three or more times per week. It’s a good way to gain web traffic. I did slack off for some time because I was involved in projects.

  3. Hello Rebecca,

  4. I’ve just begun to answer questions at Yahoo Answers in hopes of placing my links in the source box at the bottom. But I don’t see a way to enter clickable links. Is it sufficient to enter the URL?

  5. I believe the URL is sufficient. People can copy and paste it into a browser. Perhaps Yahoo! will make the links clickable; I don’t see why they wouldn’t in the first place 🙂

  6. I tried entering a clickable link, but the preview showed it as code rather than a clickable link…so I replaced it with the simple URL.

  7. It sounds like a coding issue on Yahoo’s end. At least you were able to enter you URL.

  8. Due to the large amount of spam on their website, Yahoo Answers now requires you to reach “Level 2” before your links become active. Once you’ve answered enough questions and gained enough points to become “Level 2” then all of your links will become active.
