About

Welcome!

I’m Amandah Blackwell, Cleveland freelance writer, ghost writer, and creative writer. In 2008, I fell into freelance writing, ghost writing, and creative writing.

How did I fall into professional writing?

I solo traveled to the UK, wrote an article about it, submitted my article along with my resume and graphic design portfolio to an Arizona travel company (I was living in AZ at the time), they liked it, and hired me as their blogger. The End.

Well … It’s just the beginning.

Why hire me as your freelance writer?

Because I’m not your typical freelance writer. I like being around people and don’t freak out if I have to interview someone for an article.

FYI: Do you like movies? I do. I was an ‘extra’ in the movie “Middle Men” starring James Caan, Luke Wilson and Giovanni Ribisi.

Staying on top of trends (what’s hot, what’s not) is a must. I keep my finger on the pulse of Google, SEO, and social media.

It’s fun to write for entrepreneurs, and owners of small, mid-size and large businesses! Every writing project is different.

Who have I written for?

• HalogenTV.com, AZ Lifestyle Magazine, L.A. Design Concepts, and Catalogs.com, to name a few.

• Contributing author on Media Magnetism: How to Attract the Favorable Publicity You Want and Deserve. June 2012. Published by Outskirts Press, Inc. Edited by Christina Hamlett.

• Co-author of Color Your Life: Daily Meditations for the Creative Soul. Published under the pen name Celeste Teylar with Nascent Digital Press, LLC. December 2012. I also co-authored Your Inner Child: Daily Meditations for the Young at Heart Soul and The Seussification of Life: Daily Meditations for the Movin’ & Groovin’ Soul. Publishing dates March 2013.

Travel

Do you like to travel?

My travels have taken me to Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland), Northern and Southern California, and Arizona (I lived there from 2007-2010).

I was a blogger and forum moderator for a Scottsdale, Arizona travel company. One of the websites was for aspiring and experienced travel writers. The other was dedicated to travel to Baja.

Interviews

Don’t you love helping others?

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and have been interviewed by Shahzad Saeed for his Friday Interview series. I was asked, “What do you wish teachers had taught you in school?” Read my response at Tech and Project.com.

The owners of The Gate Keepers Post and Zemanta interviewed me too.

Volunteerism

I believe in giving back and volunteer my time and writing services.

For The Arizona Humane Society, I was a dog walker, camp counselor, and events representative. I helped educate the public about adopting shelter pets along with informing them about how they can help get laws passed that would protect animals.

At Changing Hands Bookstore, I assisted with author and kids events. I met many authors and celebrities which was fun and exciting.

Since I moved back to Ohio, I began volunteering with Junior Achievement-Cleveland. I teach high school students business courses such as business ethics and entrepreneurship.

You can also find me at the Parma Animal Shelter in the cat area where I provide cat socialization in addition to cleaning cages and feeding the cats. I’m also helping PAS with their communications and marketing and PR.
