FTC Disclosure Affects Blogs

The new FTC Disclosures for bloggers can be confusing. The bottom line is…if you’re getting paid to write about a product, service, or destination, you must disclose that you’re being paid for it. The reason for this is people who write reviews may not give their honest assessment. Bloggers who mislead readers could face serious ramifications from the FTC.

Here’s a disclosure that I wrote for Savvy-Writer.com

Disclosure: Savvy-Writer.com earns a small commission if you click on the ads or links and make a purchase. Rebecca will not recommend products or services that she would not use herself. Every little bit helps Savvy-Writer.com stay afloat in cyberspace while providing valuable information. Rebecca appreciates your support!

Some people believe I did not have to write a disclosure since I have affiliate links on my site and readers can see they’re ads. However, I will not put anything on Savvy-Writer.com that I would not use. I know what it feels like when you purchase a product or service and it lets you down. Of course, to each his own, but I’d rather err on the side of caution.
